Event description

WHO Healthy Cities representatives from across Europe attended the event which commenced with opening addresses from the Lord Provost of Edinburgh City Council Joan Griffiths and Shona Robison MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Health & Sport.  The event was co-chaired by Monika Kosinska, Regional Focal Point WHO European Healthy Cities Network and John Howie, Organisational Lead Physical Activity & Place, NHS Health Scotland.

Key objectives

  1. To contribute to the development of a common understanding of the concept of place in the context of The Place Standard, and the opportunities for health promotion and public health
  2. To contribute to better understanding of the application of The Place Standard amongst participants, through case studies and applied learning opportunities
  3. To build on the ongoing discussions around setting and Place in the context of the Healthy Cities Network, that were built upon at the Annual Business Meeting and Technical Conference of the WHO European Healthy Cities Network, that was held in Pecs, Hungary, on 1-3 March 2017
  4. To identify next steps for how this can be taken forward by the WHO European Healthy Cities Network.
